2012 Husqvarna CR125 Review

The rules of competition may have changed, but the fun-factor of an eighth-liter two-stroke on a motocross track remains unmatched. Husqvarna is proud to still be mixing gas with the mighty CR125! New for 2012, the CR125 comes with a 144cc top-end kit complete with cylinder and piston for those looking for that valuable 19cc advantage.

Husqvarna has always had a strong championship presence in the small two-stroke 125cc Enduro and Motocross sector, models which since their entry to the market in 1988 have become a technical benchmark for the category.

The 2011 version of the CR125 has been further updated with technical modifications deriving from Husqvarna's experience in the European Motocross championship.

2012 Husqvarna CR125 Features and Benefits

The semi-perimeter frame on the new CR125 is chrome-molybdenum steel tubing, painted black, a distinctive feature of the 2012 range, together with the Excel anodised silver rims. Most importantly, the frame now has reinforcement plates at the steering-head area. The frame is famous for its ease of handling, fitted with 48 mm Kayaba fork, hydraulically adjustable for both rebound and compression damping. So too is the Sachs monoshock in the rear, fitted to the frame with the mechanical progression linkage much favoured by Husqvarna.

Brakes
The brakes are the best possible mix: Brembo pumps and floating callipers, with large diameter daisy Braking wheel discs (front 260 mm).

The single cylinder two-stroke engine on the Husqvarna 2012 CR125 has been updated with all the best components available on the market. Mikuni TMX38 carburettor, V-Force reed valve, the same resilient clutch bell-housing as the 4-stroke TC250, ultra-light exhaust and silencer, 6-speed gearbox and now better protection of the filter box underside. And when you start the engine, the sound is the magnificent purr of a high-performance two-stroke.

2012 Husqvarna CR125 Press Release:

HUSQVARNA AT INTERMOT 2010

Husqvarna presents a radically redesigned Motocross and Enduro range at Intermot.
A total of 10 models, including 3 making their very first public appearance here at Cologne: the CR125, TC250 and WR125.

In addition to radical changes in mechanical design, there are new engine features including fuel injection for the TC250 version - track tested throughout the European motocross MX2 championship season, where Husqvarna was a leading protagonist.

Intermot is also the first chance the public will get to see and touch the new TE/TC 449/511 models. The basic concept behind the new 449/511 range is an innovative and attractive layout of the motorbike, enabling reduced overall weight, optimum centring of individual weights and an innovative chassis which meets the particular demands of off-road biking.

The central element of this new concept is the way the pinion is mounted coaxially in relation to the fork pin. This means there are no differences in chain tension as the rear suspension rides up and down, and the response to throttle changes is more immediate. This solution, called CTS (Coaxial Traction System), enables a significant improvement in traction, control of the bike and overall stability.

In the Motard and Dual-purpose sector, Husqvarna presents a range supplemented by two new 125cc four stroke models, joining the WRE and SMS two-strokes.

The Husqvarna 2011 range caters for all with the new mini CR50 and SM50 models, aimed at first off-road experiences for novice Husqvarna fans.
