2012 Husqvarna CR65
Husqvarna CR65: A serious start to a racing career
With the new CR 65 Husqvarna enters further into the world of competitive minicross. Husqvarna joined the market in early 2010 with the automatic CR 50, a minicross for those just starting their off road racing career; with the CR 65 Husqvarna has decided to compete right from the first true bike a young off-roader rides.
2012 Husqvarna CR65 Review
Liquid-cooled engine, 6 speed gearbox, 14'/12' wheels, hydraulic clutch, Mikuni 24 mm carburettor, reed valves, the CR 65 is a true competition bike.
The chassis replicates the larger Husqvarna models, with circular and oval cross-section steel main frame tubing combined with an alloy rear sub frame. The rear swing arm is also alloy, to which the rear suspension linkage is mounted.
Front suspension consists of 35 mm USD Marzocchi forks with rebound and compression damping adjustment helping to control the 220 mm of travel, whilst the rear shock absorber is a Sachs, with compression and rebound damping adjustment. The rear suspension allows for 270 mm of wheel travel.
The front brake is a 4-piston caliper acting on a 200 mm ‘wave’ type disc, ensuring powerful but controllable braking. The rear brake is a 165 mm fixed disc with 2-piston caliper.
The aesthetic design is the most revolutionary feature of the CR 65. It is absolutely futuristic, with dashing, modern lines replicating the look of the new Husqvarna 449/511 series.
All components on the CR 65 also reflect its quality ethic: wide footrest lugs, tapered handlebars, Pirelli tyres and alloy hubs. It weighs in at only 55 kg, without fuel.
Husqvarna CR65: A serious start to a racing career
With the introduction of the 2012 CR65 young champions can take to the track with the right bike and a brand they will learn to love - because in addition to its top-of-the-class performance, it has the same lines and layout as the TC449. A "great" bike for great riders, the new CR65 has 14/12" wheels, 6 speed gearbox, and above all, suspension that is externally adjustable for rebound and compression damping. For Husqvarna the CR65 is not "like a motocross bike", it is a motocross bike!

Frame
The chassis replicates the larger Husqvarna models, with circular and oval cross-section steel main frame tubing combined with an alloy rear sub frame. The rear swingarm is also alloy, to which the rear suspension linkage is mounted. All components on the CR65 also reflect its quality ethic: wide footrest lugs, tapered handlebars, Pirelli tyres and alloy hubs. It weighs in at only Kg 55 on the kerb, without fuel.
Suspension
Front suspension consists of 35mm USD Marzocchi forks with rebound and compression damping adjustment helping to control the 220mm of travel, whilst the rear shockabsorber is a Sachs, with compression and rebound damping adjustment. The rear suspension allows for 270mm of wheel travel.
Brakes
The front brake is a 4-piston calliper acting on a 200mm ?wavy? disc, ensuring powerful but controllable braking. The rear brake is a 165mm fixed disc with 2-piston calliper.
Small and aggressive
The engine of the Husqvarna CR65 can threaten adversaries, but the power delivery is just right for those learning to handle a powerful bike and go on to become champions. The single cylinder is 65 cc, water cooled, with two radiators, because the CR65's engine has all the horsepower to triumph and make its riders the champions of the future. Above all else, the engine is absolutely reliable. Air intake is by means of reed valve and a large Mikuni 24 mm carburettor. The 6 speed gearbox has a clutch with hydraulic command, for more sensitivity and less strain on the rider.
Light and compact
The steel frame is a tried and tested mix of round and oval tubing, the steering-head is inclined at an angle of 25.6°: the right compromise for stability and ease of handling, together with freedom of movement of the slim and streamlined bodywork. The suspension is professional standard. The front forks are 35mm upside down Marzocchi units, externally adjustable for rebound and compression damping. The rear end is suspended by a Sachs rear shock, fully adjustable for spring preload, compression and rebound damping, which controls an alloy swing arm.
The hydraulic disc brakes use a 4 piston callipers at the front, 2 piston callipers in the rear and the discs are oversized: 200 mm (front) and 165 mm (rear). The overall weight is just 55 kg without fuel!
